SMU weekend bazaar (7 -9 Dec 07) - Post event review

Is been a tiring weekend. Nearly 12 hours of work everyday is really not easy money. Packing and unpacking...setting up the stall each day is more tiring then expected...but nothing beats the trill of being your own boss and the feeling you get when some one buys from you :)

Our stall - 141

Due to the heavy rain, sales is only so - so. Not many ppl want to walk over to SMU with the heavy on and off rain and there's not much students from SMU and nearby school since is the school holiday.

Biggest problem faced is the lack of crowd, even with performances going on, the crowd is pathetic. The performances by ex campus superstar and some children is nothing much to wow about. I was thinking that maybe at least some supporter and friends will drop by but sadly only a handful of 10 people came to watch.

Friday was the best with the highest sales record due to the lunch hour crowd from the nearby office and we are having great hopes and expectation for the weekend...but sadly our takings falls by half each day...

Most of the time we sit and watch the rain & xmas lighting, move our table in and out of the shelter and talk to other vendors who also have little or no business at all.

Now and then we get funny uncles and weird ppl asking us question like,

"is this mirror for sales?"

"Where did u get the clothes rack?"

"how much is the red luggage bag"

In case you are wondering, take a look at the photo below..Do we look like we are selling them? I mean isnt it obvious that the mirror is for ppl to see if the clothes look nice on them and the luggage bag is just a make shift stand...

I got the urge to tell them, "yes sir, if you like it, it will be only $100"... maybe i'll be better off selling mirrors and luggage bag??

The famous and popular luggage bag (if you really want, you can get at Metro for around $30.00 and the mirror is $9.90 from a small shop selling household product )

Well not all so bad, after we manage to make some although not much money and sold some of our stuff. We also identified whats more popular so we can import more the next time.

Guess things will be much better without the rain and more crowd...so we are giving another go by trying to apply for the lime flea market on the 22th Dec. Hopefully there will be much more xmas crowd at orchard road =) I'll update again once we finalise the date and hope to see you at our stall!!!

For now, please continue your online shopping with us and hope you can find something you like for yourself or your loved ones!!

CheerS!!
